This is a low mileage, matching number, MGB GT in extremely good original condition, having had only three owners from new.
The car was manufactured in August 1973 and sold by Kenning Motor Group in April 1974 to its first owner, a local company in Rochester, Kent. In April 1976 ownership was transferred to the company Managing Director's wife, with whom it remained for the next thirty or so years before being taken off the road when she gave up driving and entered a nursing home. In 2011 the car was recommissioned, the paintwork professionally refreshed, and was subsequently purchased in March 2012 by the last owner. He kept the car fully MOT'd and in excellent order for the next four and a half years but only covered some 500 miles in that time.
The Heritage Certificate confirms that the car retains its original engine and specification, with the exception of the headrests which have been removed at some point and blanking plugs fitted. The ignition barrel would appear to have been replaced but the same FS key fits both doors, the tailgate and the glove box. The interior of the car is completely original.
The engine is quiet, smooth, and maintains excellent oil pressure. The transmission is also in excellent order with smooth power take up and gear changes, fully operational overdrive and no untoward noise or harshness. Brakes and suspension are also in very good order.
The car has an MOT with no advisories which expires on 23rd August 2017,is HPI clear and is, of course, road tax payment exempt.
There can be very few MGBs available today in such good original condition, with only three keepers in total, and with such low mileage which I am sure, after inspecting and driving the car, you will agree with me is entirely genuine.
Please call me, Robin Whittaker, if you would like any further information or to make an appointment to view. The car is kept in my dry and well lit premises in Burwash, East Sussex so weather is not a problem.
