Southern Testing is an established firm providing environmental and geotechnical consultancy services to the private and public sectors.  We currently have the following vacancies:-

Trainee Field Technician.
Trainee Laboratory Technician.
Stores Person.

All vacancies are full time, Monday to Friday (37½ hours).

Trainee Field Technician:

The position involves both site and laboratory work and the successful applicant will be responsible for carrying out geotechnical and/or geoenvironmental site investigations and site tests as instructed by our Project Engineers.  Projects are varied and interesting and involve some physical effort in an outdoor environment.  The position would suit applicants with GCSEs (preferably including maths and science) and possibly A Levels.  A full UK driving licence is essential.

Trainee Laboratory Technician:

The position involves carrying out laboratory testing of soils and materials for which full training will be given.  No previous experience is required but a GCSE in a science subject would be helpful.  The role will also include occasional collections/deliveries therefore a full driving licence is essential.

Stores Person:

Duties include booking in and despatching soil samples to external laboratories, assistance with administration, manual lifting of incoming deliveries (eg pipe, site materials) and soil sample disposal.  The role also includes janitorial duties to keep the units clean and tidy.  This position would suit a fit and active person.
