Oaklands Property Management was set up in 2002 by Chris Michaelides BA (Hons) and Douglas Barley (F.F.B. A.C.I.O.B). Between us we have forty years experience of all types of property investment, development and building surveying.

Our disillusionment and dissatisfaction with the property management services offered by some of the mainstream estate agents in the Sussex area prompted us to begin managing our own portfolio of properties. This management experience enabled us to offer our management services to other property investors in the Sussex region.

Our founding philosophy is to offer a comprehensive range of management services for property investors by property investors. We offer the highest level of professionalism, service and integrity, which is nothing less than we would expect ourselves.

With the new right to manage legislation we have found that residential management is the fastest growing part of our business and we welcome all enquiries from resident management companies and individual property owners alike.

Finally, we are a genuinely independent company, unlike many of our competitors who retain their original trading name whilst being a part of a Plc or Building Society. This enables us to offer an unrivalled, flexible and personal service for the benefit of both freeholders and leaseholders.

We offer a number of core services that are included in our annual management fee:-
  • Collection of ground rent and maintenance charges.
  • Service of notices and advice on action for chasing arrears.
  • Insurances including building's cover.
  • Arranging general maintenance through approved contractors.
  • Each property we manage has an independent bank account.

  • Quarterly property inspections.
We also provide additional optional services, which we can discuss with you as the need arises:-
  • Additional inspections of the property.
  • The investment of reserve funds.
  • The employment and supervision of staff.
  • Mediation in disputes.

  • Consultation on major works.

In addition to our in-house maintenance team, which looks after the properties we currently manage, we are also in contact with a wide variety of sub contractors. This enables us to offer the following additional services:-

  • Specification preparation and supervision to completion by our surveyors.
  • Estimates and advice.
  • Fire precaution works to comply with local authority requirements.

  • Annual gas inspections and reports.
  • Annual electrical inspections and reports.
  • Installation of central heating, gas,oil and electrical.
  • Interior and exterior decoration.
  • Advice on listed building consent and applications of grants from local authorities.
  • Security consultation.
  • Building works and repairs.
  • Block paving and crossovers (Includes advice on planning applications).

  • Plumbing, tiling and bathroom fitting.
