Writing a Mothers Day Poem

mothers day poetryThinking about Mothers Day ideas that are unique can be quite a challenge every year. We all want to give Mothers Day presents that mean something and that are special, but it is also great to think of something more creative. A Mothers Day poem could be the ideal way of expressing your love to your mum. Get some great tips on how best to approach writing such a poem in this guide.

•    When beginning to write a poem to use as Mothers Day presents, start off by brainstorming some moments that will help you out. Recall your best memories spent with your mother and what it is that really makes you love her. By doing this you will easily come up with what subjects you want to incorporate in the poem.

•    Although poems do not have to rhyme, it can be much more fun to write and read if they do. Look at the notes that you have jotted down and start writing your opening lines. You will get a feel for how long it will be judging by how much you already have written down.

•    A great idea is to use specific times that you have both shared and put them into poetry form. Rhyming dictionaries can come in very handy for this purpose. If not, it is up to you and your creative genius to create something beautiful.

•    Make sure to tailor your poem to your mum’s individual personality. For instance, if she is a bit of a joker, make your poem a funny one. However, if you know she is quite sentimental, it will mean a lot to her to have more of a heartfelt approach.

•    Once you have finished writing your poem, decide on how you want to present it. If you think you have the right skills, calligraphy will always be the best option. However, there are ways to make the written word look great with a computer as well. One of the best Mothers Day ideas is to include the poem in the card itself.
