Bedroom for sleeping
Have you ever tried sleeping with the lights on, or with a stereo playing full blast in the background? If so, then you’ll know how difficult it is. Making sure that your bedroom is dark and quiet is essential to providing yourself with optimum sleeping conditions. Try fitting blackout blinds or dark curtains and reduce all background noise as much as possible.
Relax
Taking time to relax before you go to bed is really important. Run a hot bath, put some relaxing music on and have a warm drink. All these things will help you to shrug off the stress that has built up during the day, leaving you much more susceptible to sleep.
Don’t lie in bed if you can’t sleep
If you have ever experienced a situation when you’ve just lied in bed thinking about everything that has happened that day, or worrying about tomorrow, then you’ll agree that it can make sleep a near impossibility. Lying in bed when you can’t sleep will only make the problem worse, so keeping yourself occupied until you feel sleepy will make a world of difference.
Get the right mattress
This one is all based on personal preference. Some people like a super soft mattress, whereas others prefer a good solid one. Whatever your preference make sure that the mattress you sleep on is comfortable.
It’s recommended that everyone should get at least 8 hours of sleep a night. So if you have a habit of staying up into the early hours of the morning, even though you have an early start, then consider hitting the sack a little bit earlier. Sleep well and enjoy national bed month.
