Planning Your Summer Motorcycle Holiday
Nothing is better then the open road; wind in your hair, sunshine on your face and the thrum of the engine. With this in mind we’ve put together a summer motorcycle holiday guide so that you can experience all the best things about motorcycle riding and customise a holiday that is perfect for you, while still covering all the bases and making it a secure and enjoyable trip.
Planning
Make sure you plan your journey very thoroughly. The great thing about a motorcycle holiday is that it is personal, individual and completely dictated by what you want; as such there’s no magic wand to wave and produce a perfect biking plan.
Plan your route; calculate how many miles you’re willing to ride each day (take into account the capabilities of those accompanying you), plan stops, rest points and accommodation for the evenings be it camping (in which case book campsites –don’t turn up hoping for the best), hotels or hostels. Make sure you budget for your journey (to include food, drink, petrol, goodies and a contingency for emergencies) or else you’ll end up breaking your bank.
Make sure your passport is in order if you’re intending to travel through Europe. Get insurance, breakdown cover and make sure you can find your NHS card as the E1.11 is now out of circulation.
