Keeping clean at a festival: The Essentials

So the summer is officially in full swing, honest, I’m not lying, and a lot of people are spending time rolling around in the mud at festivals. This coming bank holiday is the perfect time to go to a festival. They are happening all over the country so pop along and have a great time in the (fingers crossed) sun.

But beware; a festival is not the easiest place to stay clean. I mean, there is an abundance of mud and very little access to a place to get clean. Here are a few essentials that may make your trip to the festival of your choice a little bit more bearable.

Hand Sanitiser
This little beauty is one of the most important things to remember. When you visit the toilets at a festival there doesn’t tend to be a lot of soap for afterwards. And trust me, if you are going to the toilet at a festival you will want to wash your hands.

A little bottle of hand sanitiser will go a long way. It is anti-bacterial which is very important at a festival as it will kill all the germs that seem to be everywhere. Use it after the toilet, before you eat, and after you have fallen over and dirtied your hands in the mud.

Toilet Roll
Speaking of going to the toilet, another essential to take with you is toilet roll. Trust me; take a truck load if you can, because there is never any left in the toilets when you need it. If you don’t bring any with you then I can promise you, you will end up going home early.

It is handy for trips to the loo and can also be used for any unexpected stains and marks. And there will be plenty of these unless the sun is out all weekend, which could happen, you never know.

Toothpaste
Now, this may seem like an obvious one, but a lot of people manage to forget their toothbrush and toothpaste. For some festivals you are away from home for five or six days and no one wants to hang around for that length of time in the company of someone with smelly breath. I mean; would you? No, I didn’t think so.

Spare Phone
I know this isn’t strictly a piece of advice to keep clean but it is never a good idea to take a fancy iPhone or Android to a festival. For a start old and worn phones’ batteries tend to last longer and at a festival there are very few places to charge a phone. And it is also very easy to lose your phone at a festival.

My friend managed to drop his phone down the toilet at Glastonbury, now you do not want your phone back if it falls down a festival toilet. So invest in a cheap and reliable old, used phone and bring it along. Don’t risk taking your fancy touch-screen with you.
