How to find unique furniture
Nowadays it is very easy to end up with your lounge and bedroom looking like its come straight out of the catalogue.
Large furniture companies mass produce so much stuff that you could visit ten different houses and feel like you’re sitting in your own front room. Unique pieces can not only be harder to find but quite often come with a pretty large price tag so it is understandable that so many of us don’t do it.
However, with a little dedication and a little bit of luck it is possible to find really nice pieces of furniture that don’t come with assembly instructions.
One of the ways of doing this is to go online; websites like the Friday-Ad have all sorts of adverts from people looking to sell pieces of furniture for cheap – sometimes they even give it away. Old furniture in good condition can be a brilliant investment as you will own something that you’re unlikely to see everywhere you go.
If you’re up for a bit of a restoration project you can often find old pieces of furniture for sale that are in need of a little TLC; these items will not only be cheaper but you can really put a personal stamp on them by painting them or by changing drawer and door handles to something a little different.
If you prefer to look for pieces in person rather than trawling through the internet there are a few ways of doing this too.
Car boot sales can be brilliant for unique pieces of furniture and you’re guaranteed to grab a bargain by doing it this way; you can pick up all sorts of weird and wonderful things to decorate your home with.
Second-hand furniture warehouses are starting to pop up all over the place now; they are even becoming trendy as shabby-chic furniture becomes more and more popular as time goes on.
In Brighton specifically there is a brilliant ‘vintage’ shop called Snoopers Paradise where you can pick up all manner of things; it is kind of like a flea market and they have retro furniture and beautiful wooden pieces to suit all tastes.
So with a little bit of time dedicated you really can create a wonderful look and feel to your front room or bedroom by digging a little harder to find unique pieces of furniture; what’s more is that usually the items come with a bit of history which makes them far more interesting than trawling through a catalogue to find stuff.
