Holidaying on the Isle of Wight

Are you still pondering where to go on holiday this year? Well, there are many places that people dream of heading - The Caribbean, America, New Zealand, but why not save some pennies and spend some time on the Isle of Wight?

A number of people will turn their nose up at this choice of holiday destination, but it really is a fantastic place to spend a week or long weekend.

Known as The Garden Isle, the Isle of Wight is famous for its lovely warm climate, stunning scenery and its friendly and welcoming people. After becoming a popular holiday destination in the Victorian Era the island has become a top holiday destination for Brits who are looking to stay within the country when they go on holiday.

What is there to do?
Well, there are plenty of fantastic attractions on the Isle of Wight from the Dinosaur Isle to Owl and Monkey Haven near Newport.

Now I know owls and monkeys don’t have much in common, but the Owl and Monkey Haven makes for a surprisingly great day out for the whole family. If you head to Dinosaur Isle you can have a fantastic time too. You can see a plethora of dino skeletons and you can even go fossil hunting yourself.

For the nature lovers among you, you could go llama trekking. Sounds strange doesn’t it? But you haven’t lived until you have taken a llama for a walk. Trust me, walking your dog will never be the same again.

If walking is high on your list of enjoyable activities then you are in luck as the Isle of Wight is an all season walkers paradise with over 500 miles of well maintained footpaths winding through fields and forests. Nearly half of the 64 mile coastline is classed as ‘Heritage Coast’ and over half of it is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty. So if you are a rambler and you have never been to the island then maybe next time you are planning a holiday you should give the Isle of Wight a try.

Again if nature is your thing then you should seriously consider heading to the Ventnor Botanic Garden on the Isle of Wight. There is a sub tropical and exotic plethora of plant life that is arguably one of the best of its kind in the UK. The garden allows plants which would usually have to grow within greenhouses in the UK to grow outdoors. This is due to the fact that it lies in the remarkable microclimate at the heart of the famous ‘Undercliff’. This location protects it from the cold northerly winds and it holds its warmth well. If you are a lover of plant life or just nature itself then a day trip to Ventnor Botanic Garden is a must.

There are plenty of other things to do on the Isle of Wight and to find out more then why not head to Wightbay now?

Cheap and easy
The main attraction of holidaying on the Isle of Wight is the fact that it is so cheap and easy. Rather than spending money and time flying over into Europe you can just hop onto a ferry at Southampton and you will be on the island before you even know it.

Another great reason to go to the Isle of Wight is the fact that you don’t need to change your money over. There is no worrying about exchange rates or heading to the post office to change up your money and you won’t have to worry about using your cash cards abroad either or mastering another language. Oh, and your mobile phone will work as normal too, so there is literally nothing to worry about.
