Going on holiday abroad

So, you fancy a holiday? Why not, you deserve it! Now all you have to do is decide on where to go. Well, that isn’t all you have to do, obviously. You will also have to book the time off work, save up for it, book flights, arrange for someone to look after Kennedy - your dog - and then pack. Sorry, that was far too specific.
Let’s focus solely on where you want to go.
There are plenty of great different ways to spend your holiday time. Some people like a relaxing holiday on the beach, while others prefer to sightsee in places that are bursting at the seams with history. And then there are those who love an adrenaline fueled week of extreme sports.
These are only a few of the options, there are plenty of others including walking holidays, kids holidays, and caravan holidays, but it seems the biggest decision to make at the moment is whether you are going to go on holiday in the UK or abroad.
If you choose to go on holiday abroad you are broadening your horizons and you get the opportunity to experience another culture and maybe even learn a bit of the language. There is nothing wrong with holidaying in the UK, but if you are looking for something new then you should look to go abroad.
You don’t even have to go too far to be immersed in a brand new culture. France and Holland are very close and you can reach them by ferry or very quickly if you fly. Every nation has a certain set of characteristics and things that make it unique from its neighbours, so you don’t have to go far at all to experience another culture and see how other people live.
One of the main attractions for me, for going on holiday abroad, is the food - I know, I sound like a gannet. There is nothing better than eating food which has been sourced and cooked locally. Sure, you can eat Indian and Chinese food in the UK, but there is something special when you are eating it in its native country. You will be amazed at how much food varies from nation to nation and I would highly recommend being open minded and eating as much local food as possible. You never know, you might just end up finding your new favourite dish.
Another major bonus of going abroad on your holidays is the weather. The UK is renowned for its lack of extreme weather, we don’t get enough sun to have a wonderfully warm beach holiday and we don’t get enough snow (plus we don’t have the mountainous terrain) for a fantastic skiing trip. If you want wonderful sunshine and warm weather then you really should consider going abroad. Just don’t forget to pack your sun cream, a hat, some sunglasses and maybe a fan, oh and some insect repellent and maybe a decent book to read on the beach.
Basically, it is true what they say, travel does broaden the mind. The more places you visit, the more people you meet and the more cultures and traditions you get to witness. Holidaying in the UK is also fantastic and you can have a great time visiting parts of this country which are so stunning you will think you are abroad, but by actually going abroad you can see more of this wonderful world. You never know, you might get a taste for it and end up spending your days travelling the world in search of adventure.
