Filing Cabinets: Not Just For the Workplace
So you have just picked up some tickets to see Cher in concert in Bognor or you have recently renewed you passport, but where are you to store them? I know people that have a designated drawer for ‘important stuff’ and I know people that like to hide their belongings around the house, but the problem is what if your ‘important stuff’ drawer gets too full?
My friend liked to hide his marbles around the house. Unfortunately Russ lost his marbles as he couldn’t remember where he had hidden them and it was a sad day for all involved. Well don’t worry there is a great piece of furniture that can be used for all sorts of things: The filing cabinet.
Filing cabinets are commonly used in offices around the world to store things in an organised fashion. Well, why not get one for your home? A filing cabinet in the spare room or kitchen can be utilised to great effect.
Filing cabinets are a great place to store bank details and important documents. You can organise them how you please and have certain drawers for certain things. This may sound like a very over the top way of keeping your life in order but it is a sure fire way to instantly know where things are when you need them.
‘But they are ugly’, I hear you say, and sure, they are cumbersome and grey but why not get creative and decorate them how you please? Did Neil Buchanan teach us nothing? Paint them up to match your walls or upholstery or even stick photos to them to make them more personalised to you and your family.
They don’t have to be used for important objects though. The larger filing cabinets are a great way to store CDs, DVDs and even records. You can keep them alphabetised and neatly arranged. If you want to find your Let Loose album from the 90s simply head to the drawer marked ‘L’, see it is simple. No more searching around for your favourite albums.
Some people have filing cabinets in the larder and use them to store vegetables or kitchen utensils. I use mine to keep my old Lego organised and Russ now uses his for marbles.
So if you need a nice and simple way to keep your bits and bobs organised I would strongly suggest opting for a filing cabinet. You will be able to sleep safe at night knowing your most important documents, CDs, DVDs, records, Lego or marbles are safely tucked away and nicely arranged.
