Essential Motorbike Kit


So you’ve got the helmet, leathers and boots. Your motorbike is maintained to perfection and you can’t wait to jump in the saddle and take her for a spin. But are there any other bits of kit that you should be taking with you?

Obviously what you take with you will depend on where you’re going, how long for, whether you know the area and the type of breakdown cover you have. But there are some things that never go out of style and that can be pretty helpful in a pinch. So we’ve put together a little list of what we consider to be essential motorbike kit whether you ride a 50cc
scooter or a 1000cc superbike.

Papers: check. Mobile: check. Cash: check. So what else? Here’s our list for all your essential motorbike kit to ensure that you’re prepared for the best and worst biking has to offer you.

•    Dry socks – essential if you’re stranded in bad weather during the winter or if you’re prone to blisters.
•    Extra gloves – Again stranded in cold weather you need to keep your body temperature up.
•    Map of local area – getting lost in the middle of nowhere isn’t just a pit fall for drivers.
•    Latex gloves – if for whatever reason you need to conduct a little maintenance on your bike you don’t want to be putting oily grubby hands back into your gloves.
•    Wind up torch – An essential for any traveller, motorcycling must-have
•    Emergency blanket – if it’s cold, wet and windy, if you’ve been involved in an accident or if you’re waiting for the people with ‘the know’ to come and save you.
•    Whistle – to make sure you can attract attention if you need to.
•    Mini air pump
•    First aid kit.
