Brighton Carnival Association putting on a parade - 14th and 15th July 2012

Brighton Carnival Association putting on huge event on 14th and 15th July 2012The Brighton Carnival Association is putting on a wonderful parade on the 14th and 15th July 2012 and is all set to be as good as ever. The Brighton Carnival Association (BCA) is an organisation that is run by a number of people from throughout the city, for people of the city.

The main aim of the company is to raise money and call in favours to put on fabulous and entertaining outdoor parading events. And this July’s event should be no different.

Central to the policies, plans and procedures of BCA is a commitment to the environment.  A unique aspect of Brighton Carnival is that  all vehicles on parade are fuelled by plant oil mixes, electric, solar and pedal power only, how good is that? Pretty darn good I tell you!

The BCA became an association in 2007, when it evolved from the Samba Encounters of the Brighton Festival, and in that year they held their first parade. This event saw 400 on parade and ended at the Peace Picnic on Hove Lawns. Then, the next year, the parade increased to over 600 participants and the route changed. The parade was sent down Madeira Drive with over 15,000 people coming to watch.

Since then it has been a complete success and this year’s parade is sure to be as good as ever. So, get into town on those days and get involved in all of the activities and enjoy the parade as much as you can. It is a great day out for the entire family, so bring the kids and their grandparents along, trust me they will love it.

There is nothing better than a parade on a hot summer’s day. And it seems the carnival this year, the Olympic year, is set to be huge.
