A day out in Sussex with your kids
Here’s our list of 10 suggested places (in no particular order) to visit on a day out in Sussex with your children…
Arundel – a town bursting with history, things to see and things to do. Check out Arundel Castle, the cathedral, walk by the river and visit the WWT Wetlands and Wildfowl Centre with their amazing collection of birds.
Bluebell Railway – bring Thomas the Tank engine stories alive for your children on this steam railway. Take a ride on the trains along the nine mile line.
Earnley Butterflies & Gardens – a great ‘three-in-one’ attraction with Butterfly collection, themed gardens and a ‘nostalgia’ museum with a shipwreck display. Ideal for a beautiful day out.
Bodiam Castle – an impressive moated castle dating from 1385, where your kids can play ‘knights and princesses’.
Brighton Sealife Centre – a visit here lets you observe over 150 species of fish and take a walk through an underwater tunnel. A new exhibition for this year is ‘Serpents of the Sea’.
Drusillas Park – considered as one of the ‘best small zoos’ in the country, Drusilla’s has so much to do and see, as well as the animals.
Middle Farm – get up close with a whole host of farm animals including chickens, ducks, pigs, calves, sheep and more. A great farm shop, café and Cider museum also feature.
Seven Sisters Country Park – the perfect place to explore the natural wonders of the South Downs. Take a walk by the river to the beach at Cuckmere Haven and find out all about the area in the visitor centre.
Ashdown Forest – hundreds of acres of gorse, bracken and beautiful countryside. Get your boots on and explore the area, plus take time out to visit the places made famous by A.A.Milne’s ‘Winnie The Pooh’.
The beach – we are blessed with miles and miles of coastline, with lots of beaches that are not all stoney! If you want sand then head to Camber Sands, Littlehampton’s West Beach or West Wittering. Picnic, build sandcastles, surf, swim and more.
